Oh February,

Here it is the end of the month and I have more finishes than I thought. The latest two finishes are totally done. Scandinavian Christmas is quilted and binding on. Here are a group of pictures. I just think this backing is perfect. The other finish is what I called my travel project. This knitted shawl stayed in a bag out in the car. And has for about 3 years, but now it's done... YEAH Finish size is 26" x 66" RSC for February Plans are to machine quilt it in March. Then I finally finish the last of the RSC from 2015. Call this one Splash of Color , even thou I believe the pattern does have a name, just can't remember. Did finish a crochet baby blanket made from yarn in my stash Feels very good to have finishes. I hope you too had a productive month. Ready for March? Sunset this evening, lovely colors

Splash of Color Done

Well the border is on. It looks like I imagined. Like it Ended up being 65" x 72" Now that is more twin size Outside my window I can see out in the pasture where there is a carcass of a feral pig. We left it there seeing how we have no cattle in that pasture and we know that there are Bald Eagles around. I've been seeing up to 3, a mature eagle and 2 juveniles, But today the were 5 eagles. That's the most at one time. There were 2 adults and 3 juveniles.    Sorry about the poor quality but it is about 200 yards from the house and taken with my IPad. They are such big magnificent birds. A true pleasure to watch and feel so lucky to be able to observe them.  Really need to charge the digital camera, maybe could get a better shot.

Splash of Color

Yesterday was the first day this week so far that I haven't  had to go somewhere, thank goodness because we had bad weather that gave us a light covering of ice. Good day to be inside and today will be another. Besides cleaning and prepping more scraps. I decided to work on the last RSC from 2015. Needed to just make another half block and arrange them to my liking. Easy sewing....... Like the look but just not big enough, before border 53" x 60". First thing a separating strip of the background fabric of 2 1/2" Then came what to do next. Thought about a piano strip or a brick stacked border. But I just felt it would be too much for this pattern, so much color I think would draw my eye that way. But I also thought just a plain border was not the way to either. Played around and this is what I decided on. Have mainly a plain border with sprinkle of the leftover color units. Today I will

Colorful Spools

NEW INTRODUCTION Last night I was working on this and pretty much was finished writing and was ready to upload the pics. Went to do that and found my iPad dead, needed to be charge so here it is the next morning seems like there is one thing or another lately. After a few days of only able to put in just 15 mins a day, yesterday I was able to sew for over 3 hours.  The first thing was to add a border to this months RSC. My next plan is to practice machine quilting. I think this could be a great way to get 15 minutes in. Have here shown 19 diamonds completed but there are a few missing. I have started adding the background hexagons So I needed to cut out some more  2" squares to prep some hexies for the Mosaic Diamonds.  Then I was going to start on something new but just wasn't in the mood to search down fabric. So decided to work on finishing something I started.  Picked the box that had the RSC blocks from 2015, picked the spools bloc

A Lot of Scrappiness

Today I spent most of it away from the house. At Sager Creek was the monthly Block Buster class.  For this months block we used Corner Beam trimmer from 180 Designs. Small block, finishes 6"  After we make them we donate the block for  Quilts of Honor. And now that we know how to use this tool, the idea is to make yourself one.  I haven't yet, justs the ones in class. Then I had to run to the feed store and Walmart. Why does it take so long there. I had a list, I know the layout of the store. You think that would help speed it up some. I was wanting to finish putting on the last border of the  Blue Arrow  It would be nice to get a picture without a cat running to get on the top as soon as I lay it out. I have 2 sides left but it's late and I'll do it tomorrow. This morning, I was planning on what to do next so I put up on the design wall another RSC from 2015. Needs a few more blocks and that shouldn't take too lo

Slow Sunday 3.26.17

I'm going to do a little catch-up on this post since I haven't written since Monday.  I was able to finish machine quilting and putting binding on 2 baby quilts. These for RSC quilts that I had started a couple years ago. Nothing like UFO's. Does feel good to finally get them completed. Now they are ready for a new home.  This one had leftover blocks from a quilt I made my oldest daughter Quilting was done with my walking foot and did it all in the ditch.  Did the same with the next one.  Also used a sheet from Walmart for the backing and binding. And still have enough leftover to back at least another small quilt. I also put the binding on two large quilt that I have had finished and waiting for their turn.  That is what I'm going to stitch on this evening while watching TV with "the man of the place". I had also finish putting the top together that I had posted about Monday that w
