30's Club

Tonight is our monthly 30's Club at Sager Creek and we have a very good turn out. Must be because of the spring like weather we are having.  There was 16 of us. So today I spent the day working on next months blocks. That leaves only one month left to do and boy will I be ready for this to be completed.  Tonight I went home with all the completed blocks that I had made for the class. Even though I had made them, they stayed here at the shop.  I have a setting I want to use that isn't the one that's in the book  Like this one here's Now I need to decide what I want to use for the color squares. I figure it will be another solid but needs to be 30's related colors. My goal is to have this assembly by the April meeting. By then everyone have all the kits and maybe they'll  them done.  I'm hoping that this will give them ideas to consider. Would like to show now the stuff others brought in for show and tell.

What's Up 10.17.16

on the design wall is the same as it has been for the past couple of weeks, Words to Live By. I didn't do a thing on it today other than prep a section to sew. What I did do is trimmed 3 quilts for binding. My mind is on Christmas already. You see my daughters and their families will be here for the holidays. First time in ages, and being that is been a while I have to find the decorations. I haven't decorated in years and not sure if all will be fine. They have been stored in the crawl space above the garage and hope to get them down this weekend. Decided to start with the gingerbread quilt, have the strips cut  just need to press and attach. But before I can do that I needed to finish the last block of next months Farmers Wife Another paper pieced block, #97 Tracy. Using freezer paper this time all is going well except I did not receive enough of the dark purple print to finish it. I'll get tomorrow when I go to the shop.

Some sewing going on

I can actually share some sewing this time. Was able to finish 3 of the 4   Farmers Wife  blocks   for next month's 30's club. I wrote earlier that had only 3 months left counting this set but I was wrong, it's 4. Still that's not much. I can say that I have becomed better at paper piecing and using freezer paper is my favorite way. I do know... I do not like tearing paper away. It felt good to spend time sewing and quilting. This evening was devoted to working on blue Rocky Road. I'm now working on the outer rows, which I'm starting on right side now, with help of course. Wanted to show you how big my chicks have gotten. They are now 2 months old and they look like hens, little one but hens all the same We have them out in the shop in a big round stock tank with a chain linked gate as a cover. 4 months from now they should start laying which we be good cause as of now the 6 old "freeloaders" h

This week happenings

Looks like I've done it again, a whole week has passed without one day of writing. I have been trying to break this one bad habit for a while now, among many other bad habits I have also. Focusing has been an issue with me the past year. In fact I made that my word for the year last year, and I tried very hard to stay on track. Well that's and along with my energy deflating, plus the past few months I've been having anxiety attacks and bouts of despair and such during the day. So I finally went to the dr. and we had the talk about hormones and menopause. She has me on a natural HRT right now. They say it can be 4 to 6 weeks before I see changes and I have to say I've seen good improvement in my moods. My hair loss and other things I haven't noticed too much change, but it's only been a few weeks now. I'm hoping that it will help with my focusing too. I know part of it is a bad habit that has been created from this past year. So enough  about menopau

What's up 09.12.16

This morning while I'm writing the installer just arrived and will start laying the kitchen tile.  They said that they would have it all in today, I just wish they could of been working on finishing the hardwood. The sale rep was not there Friday and we all left messages. I hope they will replace the bowed planks soon. They told me that the carpet layers will not install the carpet until the floors are finished. Don't know what that means, will we be waiting a length of time...sure hope not. I want this to be over soon so I can get the house all back together. I'm in the sewing room out of the way and have a couple projects to work on.  All the embroidered/applique pieces trimmed and now it's time to start assembling a half square triangles on the " Words To Live By ". So far up on the design wall is one quarter of the corner units that need to be sewn. Figure I'll work on one quarter at a time. Its nice to see how much is comp

Happy Sewing

I have to say one thing about the hot temps is that  I'm fortunate to be able to stay inside with the A/C on, it gives me more time to spend on sewing.  I was so tired last night to write that I'll show what I did yesterday and what I did today. I like to say that I have spent very little time outside this week and what time I am, is all about supplying the plants with water. After that I need a shower before I can do anything else. Have to wash all this sweat off, blasted humidity. Today while out n the garden I picked the last of the cabbage,  couple reds and one green. I see sauerkraut in the near future. Yesterday I finished the last block for month 13 of Farmers Wife 1930's Sampler  While out yesterday I went by the quilt shop to drop them off. I like to take the completed blocks to the shop as soon as I finish them. Don't want to be responsible for them any longer than I need to. When I came back home, decided to work
